Those Great Old Time Cartoon Shows

I think that the following poem will pretty much sum up my cartoon favorites (to be sung to tune of Bob Seger's Old Time Rock & Roll)

Those Great Old Time Cartoon Shows

Just take a Looney Tune where Daffy's the star
And pop it into the old VCR.
Bring on Sylvester and cute Tweetie-Pie--
I'm gonna love them 'til the day I die!
Don't try to sell me on that anime
Where sex and violence seem to rule the day.
Bring me some Popeye and some Olive Oyl--
It's to that type of toon I wanna be loyal!

Bring on those great old time cartoon shows--
They soothe my soul like God only knows!
The nasty stuff I see these days really blows--
I want my great old time cartoon shows!

I do not want commercials posing as a show--
That's what it is and don't think I don't know!
Bring me some Donald and some Mickey, too--
They can run circles 'round that stuff that is new!
Where are Bullwinkle and Rocky these days?
Don't tell me that they've vanished in the haze.
P-p-p-porky Pig's a long-time friend,
So don't retire him 'cause you think he might offend.

Bring on those great old time cartoon shows--
They soothe my soul like God only knows!
The nasty stuff I see these days really blows--
I want my great old time cartoon shows!

I want some Yogi and some Boo-Boo, too;
Casper The Friendly Ghost and Scooby-Doo.
Where are The Flintstones--are they still around,
Or are they just too prehistoric to be found?
Let's hear old Bugsy asking, "Wot's up, Doc?",
Watch Q. Magoo drive on the sidewalk for a block.
When we compare the new cartoons to old,
One's made of cardboard and the other's solid gold!

Bring on those great old time cartoon shows--
They soothe my soul like God only knows!
The nasty stuff I see these days really blows--
I want my great old time cartoon shows!

Bring on those great old time cartoon shows--
They soothe my soul like God only knows!
The nasty stuff I see these days really blows--
I want my great old time cartoon shows!
